JCB Skid Steers: Industry Innovation

JCB Skid Steers – Like No Other

JCB made news in 1993 when it introduced the skid steer market to the first mono-boom, side-entry skid steer. The company had decades of experience as JCB Teleskid-3TS-8Wmanufacturers of telescopic handlers. So it was no surprise that they designed a skid steer that was safer and more robust than anything seen before. Of course, JCB’s skid steer line evolved since then. Series I led to Series II machines, and eventually to the New Generation models.

And then, in 2017, JCB debuted the 3TS-8W Teleskid, the world’s first skid steer with a telescopic boom. It had greater lift, reach and dig depth than any skid steer on the market. And it’s offered in both large and small platform models with vertical or radial lift.

Five large platform machines — the 250, 270, 300, 330 and 3TS-8W — and four small platform models — the 155, 175, 210 and 215 – all feature the company’s iconic single-arm JCB Powerboom.

Built With an Eye On Operator Safety

The Powerboom was designed specifically to enhance operator safety. The unique side-door entry allows operators to enter or exit the cab without climbing over attachments or under an unsupported boom. Conventional skid steer loader cabs are always accessed over the attachments or under the boom. This exposes the operator to unnecessary risks.

Plus, this unique boom configuration allows 6% better visibility than competing skid steer loaders, according to JCB. In fact, The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has recognized the many benefits of the JCB boom and side-entry design by rewriting safety alerts to exclude side-entry skid steers.

Emissions Low, Machine Control High

Of course, the innovations don’t stop there. All JCB skid steers meet Tier 4 Final regulations. They are powered byJCB’s Tier 4 Final JCB Ecomax engine or JCB JCB-ts-3ts-8wDiesel by Kohler engines. This means JCB skid steers need no exhaust after-treatment. They also provide more fuel efficiency, less reduced downtime and lower operating costs.

Operators will also find that JCB’s myCHOICE software gives them the ability to adjust travel and loader controls for optimal operation in a wide range of activities.

A Revolutionary Skid Steer

This machine is an industry first, providing features no other skid steer offers.

    • Forward reach of 8 feet means it can reach 60% further forward than any other skid steer on the market.
    • It is also the only skid steer in the world that can dig to a depth of approximately three feet below its chassis.
    • Lift height of 13 feet, 3 inches means it can reach 8% higher than any other skid steer.
    • The only skid steer on the market that can combine vertical- and radial-lift capability.
    • A unique bucket-positioning leveling system allows the bucket level to be set and maintained throughout the boom’s range of movement.

And Comfortable, Too

The climate-controlled cab comes standard, and an optional canopy is available. The JCB skid steer offers 33 % more room, and 60% better visibility than comparable, large-platform skid steers. And with side door access avoiding the boom, you can even get out to check the placement of a load while the boom is at mid-height.

Choose From Two Models

The Teleskid 3TS-8T is a compact track loader with a rated operating capacity of 3,695 lb. The Teleskid 3TS-8W is a wheeled skid steer with a rated operating capacity of 3,208 lb. We offer both.
